welcome
I have set up this website to share ideas and resources and to provide what I trust will be useful information for teachers. I have seen some brilliant work in classrooms and this is where I can share it with you in the gallery section.
Check out the resources section for downloadable graphic organisers, templates and classrooms signs. Click on links for a collection of great websites that support reading activities, Readers’ Theatre, Three Level Guides, reading comprehension strategies and classroom environment and display. There is also information on my books and where to buy them, plus information on workshops and options for school based professional development.
Please feel free to contact me with your thoughts and ideas.
what's new
New graphic organiser!
Check out the new reading strategy tool box graphic organiser in the reading strategies section of the resources link. You can use it as a way of making sure kids are clear about why they are learning reading strategies. I would see the organiser being used after a strategy has been taught as a little assessment tool and also to track a record of strategies covered. It could be stuck into the kids reading book at the back.New workshop!
I am currently developing a new workshop for teachers of year 6-8 students with lots of ideas for how to engage older readers See the workshop description in the workshop link by just clicking on the title. It’s called ‘Do we still have to teach reading? - developing a reading programme to engage Year 6-8 students.’2011 workshops!
Some workshops for next year are up in the workshops link – Kohia courses will be added shortly!About Sheena Cameron
